We have got three coaches, we don’t need another coach says Ravi Shastri: Ravi Shastri who was expected to be on his way out of the Indian cricket team ahead of the new cricketing season for team India is instead leading the team for their first series and tour after the World Cup 2015. Many predicted that the Team Director might well be shown the door due to his proximity to former BCCI President N Srinivasan. But, with the kind of scenario and circumstances that have developed he has rather been escalated to take charge of the team for the tour of Bangladesh.

Addressing the pre-tour Press meet at Kolkata, Shastri said there is no immediate need for team to have a head Coach and that the coaches that are already there with the team are doing a fair job. “We have got three coaches, we don’t need another coach.” He said.

Shastri said he was ready to fill in any role that the team needs, “I will double up as head coach if need be, so there is no issue whatsoever, “Speculation, perception, that is your problem, not my problem. As far as coach is concerned, we don’t need one,”

How long will he like continue with the team and the former Indian all-rounder turned team Boss said: “When we come back from Bangladesh, I will sit with them (the BCCI) and decide. I don’t rule out anything. I might be there much longer than what you think.”

Is his team confident of doing well against Bangladesh though they lack behind in the ranking but is a competitive team at home and Shastri said, “We respect every opponent and Bangladesh is another opponent.”

Since Harbhajan Singh has been included in the test team, with the bag of experience that he carries along will he be India’s leading spinner in the test match? “We welcome Harbhajan back in the side; he is a good operator and will bring plenty to the plate. (But) it’s going to be an India bowling outfit, not anyone in particular leading the pack,” Ravi said.

What did he think of Rahul Dravid’s appointment as the new Coach of India A and the India Under-19 team, was he in touch with the legend and Shastri said: “I have already had a chat with Dravid. There is no better news for Indian cricket … There cannot be a better man for that job. He will be with the youngsters and that will help the senior team,”
