Lionel Messi’s potential exit from FC Barcelona was the talk of the town for several days. The Argentian was on the verge of bidding adieu to his boyhood club due to a tussle between him and club president Josep Bartomeu.

Messi, quashing all transfer rumours on Friday, confirmed that he’ll be staying at FC Barcelona for one more reason. He revealed that he didn’t want to drag the club to the court due to the relationship which he shares with the Catalonian giants.

Messi was linked with multiple clubs amid his transfer saga, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain emerging as potential clubs to snap him up. However, as for now, Messi is committed to Barcelona for one more year. The focus has now shifted to players who might join the 33-year-old at Barcelona before the new season unfolds.

Virat Kohli-led RCB have already started training in Dubai

Meanwhile, Indian Premier League is also set to commence from September 10th after many delays. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the BCCI was left with no option but to shift the cash-rich league to the UAE. Ahead of the start of the much-awaited tournament, all franchises have already started training outdoors upon their arrival in the gulf country.

Adding a funny side to the Messi transfer saga, Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers, who have also flagged off their preparations in Dubai, shared a picture of their skipper playing football. The Bangalore franchise added a funny twist to the picture as they captioned it as– “We heard Messi was looking for some new teammates”.

RCB took a sly dig at Barcelona, suggesting that they’ve someone like Kohli to play with Messi for the upcoming season. Just like Messi, Kohli can be seen getting himself in position to strike the football with his left foot.

Like many other cricketers, Kohli also loves playing football as a part of his training drills. The prolific batsman is regarded as one of the strongest characters in modern-day cricket. Barcelona will begin their next season at home against Villarreal on September 29 while RCB are yet to know about their IPL 2020 fixtures. The BCCI is most likely going to roll out the much-anticipated IPL 2020 schedule on Sunday.

Responding to RCB’s tweet, several fans took a dig at the Bangalore franchise for their absurd comparison. A few fans also opined on Messi’s transfer saga as well as RCB’s title drought.
