The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has kicked off in full swing, and players are leaving no stone unturned to make a mark. One of the most valuable players of the Mumbai Indians (MI) side, Hardik Pandya has also marked his comeback to the competitive cricket after suffering an injury in 2019. However, there are still questions hovering over his bowling come back to provide strength to the team. He hasn’t bowled even once post his injury.

In the same light, Mumbai Indians’ director of cricket, Zaheer Khan, has cleared all the doubts regarding Pandya’s bowling issue. Khan stated that all-rounder is keen to pick up the ball and provide balance to his side, but his body has to be in the best form before it. It hinted that Pandya may take some time to resume his bowling action.

“We are all expecting him (Hardik) to bowl, and he is someone who really changes that balance of any side when he is bowling, and he understands that. But we have to listen to his body, and that is something the conversation which we have been having in consultation with the physios,” said Khan in a virtual media conference while being asked about Hardik’s form.

We are looking forward for Hardik Pandya to bowl, says Zaheer Khan

Hardik Pandya suffered a back injury in 2019 and missed the action during the latter half of the same year. The all-rounder went into a rehabilitation period to give his body and mind a much-needed break. He is back in the form with the IPL 2020, but his body needs little more recovery time before indulging in bowling action.

“We are looking forward to him to bowl, he is very keen and really wanting to bowl, we just have to wait and be patient and listen to his body. At the end of the day for any bowler injuries play a huge role,” concluded Khan. Hardik Pandya has been the vital cog for the Mumbai Indians set up for so many years. He is known for his all-round action, and Mumbai will be waiting for their key bowler to get into bowling action anytime soon.
