We love your shirt, team India to VVS Laxman: VVS Laxman has always been a figure of serenity and composure. Flamboyance, charisma and adventure are not the words we generally associate with the batting Maestro. He has maintained a low profile right throughout and is not one to stay in the flashlights. But what happened on Thursday during the 3rd T20I put a lot of fans on the defensive.
While heavy rains were playing spoilsport to the match, Laxman was seen discussing the series and India’s performance in the broadcasting box. While the players were eagerly waiting to receive news about starting time, something happened that attracted their attention and gave them a gala time laughing. And the reason was VVS Laxman’s.
No, the team wasn’t mocking the former Indian batsman. He still enjoys a lot of respect from the team. It was Laxman’s blue shirt with birds print that gave his former teammates some fun moments.
Laxman was in the studio with former India opener Aakash Chopra and commentator Harsha Bhogle discussing the T20I series. After watching Laxman’s colourful avatar, Team India members couldn’t stop themselves from congratulating the Hyderabadi for his choice.
In a picture posted on social media site Facebook, Harbhajan Singh, along with other team members, is seen holding a placard with a message saying, “Laxman, We Love Your Shirt.”
Captain MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and all the members of the team and support staff were all smiles as the footage was shown Live on Star Sports TV. And soon they sought Laxman’s reaction to it and he too reciprocated with a thank you, smilingly.
Recalling his playing days during the discussion, Laxman said he missed being in the Indian dressing room. Eden Gardens has been a very special venue for him. The classy batsman made his career best score, with India following on in the 2002 series against the Aussies and eventually helped the hosts win an improbable game.
Thanks to the rain and a wet outfield, Indian players unveiled some memorable moments for Laxman and many cricket fans.
