Sourav Ganguly was an aggressive captain. He took over the team’s reins after the match-fixing scandal and built a strong team backing and nurturing young talent. And his relation with all the teammates was so good that the players, at times, would pull their skipper’s legs as well. Interestingly, the team wasn’t happy at all with Ganguly’s dressing style according to Yuvraj Singh.

Revealing more anecdotes about the Indian dressing room during the early 2000s, he said that the players always used to pull Ganguly’s legs for his dressing sense. But dressing didn’t matter much for the then Indian skipper. The team used to ask him to be like the India captain which is deemed as such a huge responsibility.

“We were not impressed with Dada at all. He was the India captain, such a big name. So I was like, Dada please, you are India captain, you can not dress up like that. But Dad was like, let it be, how does it matter,” Yuvraj said in a live Instagram with India Today recalling the funny times with the Indian team.

Ganguly would be my favourite captain, says Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh also showered praise on the former India skipper who is currently the BCCI President. Even in a media interaction before, Yuvi had picked Ganguly as his favourite and also went on to say that Dada backed him a lot more than MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli during his career.

This time around too, the 38-year-old hasn’t minced words while speaking about Ganguly during a live session with India Today. He recalled the way the latter used to back and nurture young talent during his India captaincy stint.

“Sourav Ganguly would be my favourite captain. Of all the India captains, he had supported me the most. Dada nurtured young talent. He had said then that he felt like there were 4-5 boys who would help him make the team strong and he supported all of them,” Yuvraj Singh added.
