After New Zealand pulled out of their Pakistan tour at the last moment, England too stated that they are reluctant to tour Pakistan. As a result, several former and current Pakistan cricketers are disappointed with the recent turn of events.

Australia is slated to tour Pakistan in 2022, and Pakistan cricket legend and former bowling coach Waqar Younis has stated that Pakistan is a very safe place to tour. Adding that Pakistan’s security is one of the best in the world, Younis assured that nothing will happen to the Australian players.

The 49-year-old Younis also added that Pakistan shall ensure that the hospitality and security that will be provided to the Australian players will be top-notch.

“I live in Sydney, my family is in Sydney – it’s the safest place in the world and I can guarantee you this place is nothing less than that. Come visit us, we will make sure we will look after you. Our security is one of the best in the world. We’ll make sure nothing of that sort will occur. When a team comes it is a different ball game. They make sure the hospitality, the security is right up there,” said Younis while speaking to The Age.

Pakistan went to New Zealand when vaccines didn’t exist: Waqar Younis

Waqar Younis also added that the Pakistan side toured New Zealand early this year when vaccines did not even exist, and the 14-day quarantine that the players and the support staff had to undergo was really painful. Younis concluded by stating that Pakistan toured the land of the Kiwis to ensure that cricket should not suffer in the end.

“It was very tough with quarantine and we followed the protocols. We made sure cricket shouldn’t suffer. We went to NZ when the vaccines didn’t exist. That was one of the toughest tours I’ve attended – 14 days of quarantine was really painful,” concluded Waqar Younis.

Meanwhile, former England cricketer Michael Atherton is not happy with the fact that England pulled out of the Pakistan tour.
