Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan acknowledged the fighting effort of his team in the run chase against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 on 18th April. Jos Buttler continued his impressive run with the bat and scored his second century of the season to put up a massive total of 217 for RR on the board in the first innings. Sanju Samson (38) and Shimron Hetmyer (26*) played handy knocks as well while Sunil Narine and Shivam Mavi bowled well for the KKR side.

In reply, the KKR side was off to a horrific start, losing Narine for a duck through a run out without him facing a delivery. Aaron Finch and Shreyas Iyer kept their side in the hunt by scoring at a brisk rate. However, once they were dismissed, it was curtains for KKR. Umesh Yadav showed glimpses of hope with 21 runs off nine deliveries but RR ended up winning the game by seven runs in the end. This was the third straight loss for KKR in IPL 2022 after starting well and they will need to reassess their bowling plans quickly.

Here’s Shah Rukh Khan’s tweet

Shah Rukh was delighted with the fighting effort in a big-run chase from the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Aaron Finch, and Umesh Yadav and showed gratitude to Narine for playing his 150th game. He also recalled the stunning innings from KKR head coach Brendon McCullum 14 years ago in the very first game of the IPL where he scored an unbeaten 158 to start off the tournament with a bang.

“Well played boys. Stupendous effort by @ShreyasIyer15@AaronFinch5 @y_umesh congrats to #SunilNarine for the 150th match. I know we lost but if we have to go down this is the only way to do it! Keep ur chins up” Shah Rukh Khan tweeted.

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently at the sixth position in the points table with three wins in seven games and they will need to regain momentum soon with the business end of the tournament not too far ahead.
