India A proved their batting line-up isn’t characteristically any different from that of the Indian national team as they collapsed after a great opening stand in the 2nd unofficial ODI. Ruturaj Gaikwad (85) and Shubman Gill (62) put on 151 runs for the first wicket by the 31st over. But no player after that got even 30 as they added only 104 runs then on in 19.2 overs and finished with 255/8.

Nevertheless, the total was enough for yet another 65-run win for India A to go 2-0 up in the 5-match series. Navdeep Saini’s pace was too much for the home team batsmen as the pacer returned from England to take a 5-wicket haul in his first appearance of the series. West Indies were 108/7 at one stage but Raymond Reifer (71) and Romario Shepherd (34*) added 69 for the 8th wicket which didn’t prove enough.

Match Details:

The 3rd game of the 5-match Unofficial ODI series between West Indies A and India A will be hosted by the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.

The match starts at 9:30 AM local time (1:30 PM GMT) (7:00 PM IST).

The game will be streamed live on the YouTube and Windes Cricket website.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The track at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium looked good for batting in the first half of the Indian innings. As the game progressed, batsmen found it tough to hit their shots. Since there was a gap of only one day between 2nd and 3rd ODI, the venue could produce a similar track which was watered after the game.

Team News:

(Will be added when there is an update)

Power Picks:

Ruturaj Gaikwad is among the few players around at the moment with exceptional batting record in the List A format. In 36 List A innings, Gaikwad has scored 1936 runs at an average of 56.94 as he struck five tons and 13 half-centuries. In the games Ruturaj represented India A, he hit two hundreds and two fifties in six innings scoring 473 runs at an average of 118.25.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

After the recent game, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill will be the most preferred multipliers. The duo has excelled for India A in recent times. The International players Sunil Ambris, Roston Chase and Manish Pandey could be X-factor for their respective team. Navdeep Saini, Rahul Chahar and Khaleel Ahmed can be worthy as vice-captain given the slow Caribbean tracks.

Other Captain/Vice-Captain Options – Rahkeem Cornwall, Shreyas Iyer, John Campbell, Hanuma Vihari, Rovman Powell.

Expert Advice:

India A’s middle and lower order didn’t get going in the first two matches. This could force India A to bring back Krunal Pandya for Axar Patel. There is no update on Keemo Paul while Sherfane Rutherford has not played a game thus far.

Probable Winners:

India A are expected to continue their riot over a slightly inexperienced West Indies A side.
