West Indies announce squad for the upcoming ICC World T20

Test captain Jason Holder, left arm spinner Sulieman Benn, Andre Fletcher and Jerome Taylor are the new faces in the team who were not a part of the 2012 T20 World Cup squad.

West Indies have named the squad for the ICC World Twenty20 to be held in India in March this year. The side will be led by Darren Sammy and as many as 11 members are there in the squad that won the tournament in 2012 in Sri Lanka.

T20 star Sunil Narine also finds his name in the squad. Narine was was suspended from bowling in international cricket due to an illegal action in November last year. He was reported for suspect action during the third ODI against Sri Lanka at Pallekele last year. The off-spinner is expected to undergo testing at the Loughborough University facility in England.

The squad features some outstanding T20 specialists Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo and Andre Russell, who has done really well in the T20 format for various franchises across the world. Samuel Badree, the No. 1 ranked bowler in the ICC Bowler’s rankings, will strengthen the spin bowling department. The leg-spinner last played for West Indies in July 2014.

West Indies have done well in the last two editions – winning the tournament in 2012 and then reached the semi-finals in 2014. They’ll participate in training camp in the United Arab Emirates from February 22.
