The Pakistan cricket team have been deprived of international cricket for a long time now. The last time a major Test playing team had toured Pakistan was back in 2009. It was the deadly terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan tour bus in 2009, that ceased all international cricket in the country. The country soon became an out-of-favour cricket venue for international matches.

As a consequence of it, the cricket board in the country were forced to adopt UAE as their new home venue. Since 2009, they have been playing their home matches on the dusty pitches of UAE. The low ranked teams of Kenya, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe had toured Pakistan in the recent years.

However, the fans back in the nation waited for a major Test team to play there. Recently, hopes resurfaced for the fans when PCB Chief Najam Sethi revealed that the board is in talks with a major cricket team board for a tour to Pakistan next year. As per the claims by Najam Sethi, the cricket team would have toured the Pakistani nation in mid-2017. The tour was being scheduled to be played right after the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) next year.

Najam Sethi had, however, refused to name the team that they are in talks with. Later, some PCB sources revealed that the board is in talks with Sri Lanka and West Indies for the tour next year. However, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) denied all such reports about touring the abandoned cricket venue. SLC mentioned that they are ready to send the youth teams and the army team but not the national cricket team.

Now, as per the sources on the social media, Pakistan is in talks with West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for a bilateral series. A 3 match T20I series will be played during the tour and in return West Indies will host Pakistan in Flordia for 3-match T20I series.
