From a Statistician’s Eye – West Indies tour to South Africa 2014: The players from Caribbean will re-group for cricket once again after controversy with the WICB relating salary/payment issues kept them at bay from cricket and triggered them to call off their Indian tour midway. The matter has now been settled and dusted. West Indies will travel to South Africa for a full series of 3 Tests, 2 T20Is and 5 ODIs starting from December 17. South Africa has always been tough hosts to beat and no team has had much success against them in any form of the game.
Test Matches:
Test Cricket has always been the best form of the game and South Africa’s dominance in this format at home has been quite remarkable. West Indies has only managed one victory over South Africa in South Africa in 12 attempts. Their W/L ratio of 0.1 in South Africa is the WORST they have anywhere vs anyone in the world. The overall is too not great, winning only 3 of the 25 matches between them while ending up on the losing side 16 times.
