The World T20 champions West Indies sneaked in a 1-run win against India in a high-scoring thriller where 489 runs were scored in just 40 overs at the Lauderhill. Evin Lewis and KL Rahul scored centuries for their respective sides. West Indies posted a mammoth 245/6 in their 20 overs while India, in reply, ended up with 244/4 as they failed to score 8 runs in the final over. Here we look at all the stats recorded during the game.

1 – Evin Lewis became the first player to score a century in USA in any format. (FC + List A + T20) KL Rahul became the 2nd one later.

1 – For the first time in T20Is, two centuries have been recorded in the same T20I match.

1 – KL Rahul became the first player to score a century in T20Is coming to bat at No.4 or lower. Previous highest score for a batsman in T20Is coming at No.4 or lower was 98* by Ricky Ponting vs NZ in 2005.

2 – KL Rahul is now the 2nd player to bring up a century with a six in all the 3 formats. Rohit Sharma was the first player to do so.

3 – KL Rahul became the 3rd Indian to score a century in T20Is. All the 3 centuries were brought up with sixes.

3 – Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul batted together on 3 occasions in International Cricket. Twice in Tests. They put on fifty run stand on all the 3 occasions. Rahul ended up scoring a century on all the 3 occasions.

4 – Wickets lost by India in this game. This is only the 6th instance of a team losing 4 or lesser wickets in a losing chase in T20Is after batting all the 20 overs. First such instance was also recorded by India against New Zealand in 2012.

5 – Five out of last 10 T20I centuries have come in losing cause. Only one out of the first 10 T20I centuries went in losing cause.

6 – Number of Indian players conceded more than 30 runs with the ball in West Indies’ innings, the most in a T20I innings.

8 – Runs successfully defended in the last over by Dwayne Bravo. This is only the 6th instance where a bowler successfully defended 8 or fewer runs in the final over in T20Is. Last one was 8 runs by Zimbabwe’s N Madziva, also vs India in 2016.

10 – Number of times West Indies won toss in T20Is before losing in this game. The last time they lost a toss in a T20I was in Jan, 2015 vs SA.

12 – KL Rahul is now the 3rd Indian and 12th player in overall to score centuries in all the 3 formats.

19 – West Indies have hit at least one boundary in this game in 19 out of 20 overs, joint most by a team in a T20I.

20 – Balls taken by Jason Charles for his fifty in this game, the 4th fastest fifty by a West Indian player in T20Is.

21 – Sixes hit by West Indies in this game, the most by any team in a T20I innings. Netherlands hit 19 sixes against Ireland in 2014.

22 – Balls taken by Rohit Sharma for his fifty in this game, the 4th fastest fifty by an Indian in T20Is.

25 – Dot balls faced by India in their innings, the fewest in a completed T20I innings.

32 – Sixes hit in this game. These are most sixes in a T20I match. Netherlands-Ireland game in 2014 had 30 sixes.

32 – Runs conceded by Stuart Binny in 11th over of West Indies’ innings, joint 2nd most in an over in T20Is.

46 – Balls taken by KL Rahul for his century, joint 2nd fastest century in T20Is.

50 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma has hit in his T20I career. He became the 2nd Indian after Yuvraj Singh to hit 50+ sixes in T20Is.

78 – Runs scored by West Indies in powerplay, the most by any team against India in powerplay overs in a T20I. Previous highest was 74 runs by Australia in 2013.

110* – KL Rahul’s 110* in this game is now the highest individual score by an Indian in T20Is. Rohit Sharma’s 106 vs SA in 2015 was the previous highest.

244/4 – India’s total of 244/4 is now the highest total in a chase and also the highest total ever in losing cause.

253 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma has hit in his Twenty20 career. He became the first Indian and 7th player in overall to hit 250+ sixes in T20s.

325 – Number of matches MS Dhoni has acted as captain in International cricket, the most by any player. Ricky Ponting led his side in 324 matches in International cricket.

489 – Runs scored in this game, the highest aggregated match in Twenty20 history. Previous highest was 469 runs in CSK-RR game at Chepauk in 2010.
