The West Indies team had shown great fightback on the day 1 of the second Test against Pakistan at Barbados. After having lost half of their side for a score just past the 100-run mark, things looked grim for the hosts. It was the new found crisis man Roston Chase that helped the Windies come out of deep trouble in the match. Chase put on a brief stand with Shane Dowrich at the crease. Later, he was joined by skipper Jason Holder who notched up his fifty as well.

Both batsmen saw the Pakistan bowlers through on the day as Roston Chase scored a magnificent ton. The efforts of Chase and Holder saw the hosts finish with 286/6 by the end of the day 1 play. The day 2 resumed the proceedings with Chase on 131 and Holder batting solidly for his 58. What perspired in the match was all about the visitors on the day 2. They called the shots not just with the ball but with the bat too.

After the conclusion of the first day play, Chase had remarked that the team would be content with any score in excess of 350 to their name in the first innings. However, West Indies could get nowhere close to the 350-run mark. Chase failed to add any score to his overnight tally of 131 and nor could Jason Holder. On the very third delivery of the day, Mohammad Abbas managed to get an edge off the bat of Holder as Sarfraz Ahmed pocketed the catch with ease. Holder perished with 58 runs to his credit.

In the very next over, Mohammad Amir got the big wicket of Roston Chase to send him packing for his overnight score of 131. Without the run being added on the day 2, West Indies had lost both their set batsmen. Devendra Bishoo (14) and Alzarri Joseph (8) showed brief resistance before the Windies innings packed up at 312. Abbas was the pick of the bowlers with 4/56 to his name and Mohammad Amir bagged 3/65.

In response, the Pakistan team got off to a brilliant start. Both openers, Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad, showed great character to face the new ball. They ensured that they had the entire session to their name and did not let the wicket fall. Shannon Gabriel and Alzarri Joseph tried to create chances but in vain. The openers added a magnificent stand of 155 runs in 335 balls before the first wicket fell.

It was Ahmed Shehzad who was the first man to be dismissed in the innings. He ended up edging one to the hands of Shai Hope off the bowling of Devendra Bishoo. Shehzad had to depart after scoring a well compile 70 that came off 191 runs. West Indies clawed back into the game just then. Shannon Gabriel made short work of Babar Azam to send him packing for a duck in two balls. Younis Khan became the second victim of Bishoo on the day with a duck to his name as well.

Misbah Ul Haq and Azhar Ali then saw the bowlers through to end the day for Pakistan with 172/3 on the board as they trail by 140 runs. Azhar remained unbeaten on 81.
