India stands 8 wickets away from completing a 2-0 Test series victory over the Windies who were reduced to 45/2 in the chase of 468. India bundled out the Windies for 117 to take a 299-run first-innings lead. However, India decided to bat again and were reduced to 57/4. India’s leading run-getters in this series Hanuma Vihari (53*) and Ajinkya Rahane (64*) added 111 runs for the 5th wicket in 25.4 overs to allow India declare an hour before the close of the 3rd day.

Ishant goes past Kapil:
157 – Ishant Sharma has taken 157 wickets outside Asia in Test cricket till the end of 3rd day’s play; the most by an Indian pacer. He went past Kapil Dev’s 155 wickets outside Asia. Overall, only Anil Kumble (200) has bagged more Test wickets outside Asia than Ishant.
Vihari emulates Sachin:
1990 – Hanuma Vihari became only the 5th Indian to score a century and a fifty in the same Test match. The last of the previous four were Sachin Tendulkar against England during the 1990 Manchester Test. All five instances have been recorded outside Asia only.
Harbhajan Singh is the only other player to have emulated this double while batting lower than No.6 for India. He scored 69 and 115 during the 2010 Ahmedabad Test against New Zealand while batting at No.8.
Pant @ 50:
11 – Rishabh Pant needed 11 Test matches to complete 50 dismissals as keeper; the fastest to do so among Indians. MS Dhoni was the previous quickest as he needed 15 Test matches for the same. Overall, Pant is one of the five keepers to have completed 50 dismissals in as few as 11 Tests.
Bumrah’s best:
6/27 – Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling figures of 6/27 are the best for an Indian pacer in Test cricket in the West Indies. Ishant Sharma recorded figures of 6/55 during the 2011 Bridgetown Test against the hosts. Ravi Ashwin (7/83 in 2016) and Subhash Gupte (7/162 in 1953) had 7-wicket hauls in the Caribbean.
A rare duck for Kohli:
4 – Only the 4th time Virat Kohli has been dismissed for a golden duck in Test cricket. Overall, his duck in the 2nd innings was his 9th duck in Test cricket.
2017 – Last time Kohli failed to score a century in a Test series was during the 2017 home Test series against Australia. He scored at least one century in the previous six Test series. Since the start of 2016, Kohli has featured in 12 Test series but failed to score a hundred only twice.
Since the start of 2016, the 2017 Border-Gavaskar series and the current Test series are the also only ones where Kohli averaged below 40 with the bat in a Test series.
Shami @ 150:
151 – Number of wickets for Mohammed Shami in his 42-match Test career. He is only the 5th Indian pacer and overall the 15th Indian to claim 150 wickets in Test cricket.
