West Indies started the year with an extremely comfortable victory. In the first ODI against Ireland, their players didn’t have to break a sweat. Alzarri Joseph set the tone for them by picking up a four-wicket haul in the first innings. Then in the chase, Evin Lewis displayed a masterclass which helped them sail over the line. They’d like to repeat the same when they step onto the field in the second game of the series.

Also, the West Indies batsmen would want to improve with their shot selection in this game. Ireland, on the other hand, did a decent job with the ball to subject the opposition to a slight bit of pressure. But they didn’t have enough runs on the board. The senior players in the side have got to take the responsibility of getting big scores and putting the team in a comfortable position.

Pitch and Conditions

While the first ODI indicated slightly otherwise, the Barbados track is a paradise for the batsmen. Even in the last game, the ball was coming on nicely. It was just that the bowlers hit tight lines consistently combined with poor shot selection. Both teams can be aggressive with the bat and must look to put up big totals on the board. Rain is expected but we might not lose out on many overs.

Shai Hope will hope that he gets a big score this time and even Brandon King will want to make a bigger contribution. The middle-order needs to be more careful with the shot selection. Following his impressive performance in the last game, Hayden Walsh will hold on to his spot in the side.
