In the 5th and final T20I match that took place between West Indies and South Africa, Proteas bagged the series by 3-2. They won the final game by 25 runs where a crucial stand of 127 runs between Aiden Markram (70) and Quinton de Kock (60) became the very basis of their victory. While Markram was awarded as the man of the match, Tabraiz Shamsi took away the man of the series award.

Though the match ended on a good note for South Africa, an event in the match didn’t go well with the former greats of the team. Actually, it was Wiaan Mulder who was facing the last ball from the SA innings and Obed McCoy was in attack. However, he bowled a clear wide and everyone expected a signal from the umpire but all went in vain when the on-field umpire didn’t signal at all. In fact, that even shocked the batsman as well.

While the batsman and fans got shocked, it was Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers who didn’t take any time to express their anguish on the Twitter. Steyn added, “How on earth it is not a wide?” On the other hand, De Villiers gave his nod with ‘shocker.’

Here is how AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn reacted

The final match began with SA winning the toss and coming up with bats first where they posted good 168 runs on the board. On the other hand, the opponents got wrapped up on 143 runs with only Evin Lewis’ (52 off 34) star performance from their batting unit.

“I always want to score runs and make a difference. Luckily it went well today. For a majority of the time, we were good with the bat today. A lot of credit has to go to Quinton, he has played a lot of T20 cricket. He has played in all conditions and knows what to do. He was guiding me throughout and he has spent a lot of time on this wicket. He had a great series on these tough wickets. It was only a matter of time before he got going, he’s a class player. Credit to the fielding coach, he puts us through the yards,” said Markram after winning player of the match award.
