Western Railways middle-order batsman Sagar Mishra entered the record books on Wednesday. Mishra hit six sixes in an over and became the only third batsman in Indian history to do so. He joined the elite club that boasts of the juggernauts like Yuvraj Singh and Ravi Shastri.

The 23-year old Sagar Mishra is a brilliant all-rounder and was promoted up the order in the match. Playing against the RCF in the Times Shield ‘B’ Division match, Sagar created history. As per the report in the TOI, Sagar looked good for a big total when he notched up his fifty. He was promoted to bat at number 4 and had responded well to his team’s cause.

He had raced to his fifty in just 35 balls. It was after reaching his fifty, that he decided to clobber the off-spinner. Off-spinner Tushar Kumare was at the receiving end as Sagar Mishra hit 6 sixes in one over to take his individual score to 91. Mishra missed out on a well-deserved century and finished off with 91 off just 46 balls.

Interestingly, in the last 11 balls that he faced, he hit 9 sixes. Speaking about his knock, the 23-year old left-handed batsman said that it was like a dream come true. He remarked that he remembered Yuvraj Singh doing so about 9 years ago. He added that he had never imagined that he would do something similar.

“It’s a dream come true. I remember Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes in an over on TV nine years back. Never did I imagine that I’d do something similar,” said Mishra. He further revealed that he was promoted to number 4 to counter the left arm spinner. “I was promoted to number 4 because their left arm spinner was bowling well and I was sent to up the scoring rate,” said the jubilant batsman.

Yuvraj Singh had achieved this feat when he had hammered Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over during the inaugural edition of the World T20. Ravi Shastri was the first Indian batsman to do so when he hit six sixes in a domestic match in 1985.
