Australia swatted aside the Sri Lankans with absolute disdain in the recently concluded Twenty20 International series. And, the fact that the last match which the Aussies won by seven wickets was the closest of them all, told you the extreme gulf between the two sides.

It was an annihilation of the highest order and David Warner’s swashbuckling form was at the heart of it. He may have had his struggles in the longest format of the game during the recently concluded Ashes series but it is fair to say the former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper has been in prime touch in the white-form formats of the game, and especially in Twenty20 Cricket.

Warner, who made a successful return to competitive cricket during the Indian Premier League where he scored a colossal 692 runs, carried his form in T20Is and racked up scores of  100*, 60* and 57 not-out against Sri Lanka.

Will Pakistan be able to stop Warner? Babar Azam thinks so!

Warner will now turn his attention towards shellacking the No.1 T20I side in the world but skipper Babar Azam feels that Pakistan has got plans in store to stop the southpaw. Speaking to the press as quoted by Times Now, the newly-appointed T20I captain Babar Azam said, “We’ve got a plan ready for David Warner. He’s one of Australia’s really good batsmen. We have our frontline bowlers, we have a strategy ready for David. Obviously, once he gets going, he gets going but we have a strategy in place for all facets.”

After what was a horrendous Ashes series for Warner, his spot in the shorter formats of the game had also come into scrutiny but skipper Aaron Finch said that his struggles in Test cricket were never going to come in way of the left-hander’s selection in the white-ball cricket.

“There was definitely no issue for me, he’s the first picked in any T20 side. You look at the way that when he gets runs, he wins games for his team – whether it’s Australia, Hyderabad (in the Indian Premier League), wherever he plays, when he performs the teams win and that’s such a huge asset.” Finch said in Sydney.
