Pakistan vice-captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan recently opened up on strike rate concerns revolving around the Pakistan team in the shortest format of the game. He even added that he and skipper Babar Azam are satisfied with the respective contributions that they are able to put into the team. Addressing a recent virtual press conference, Rizwan added that they are confident of dominating the English side owing to their consistent series win.
He also added that even Babar Azam’s strike rate is pretty good as he plays over 140. They both have also been able to chase 200 and there is nothing wrong with their top order. However, he also accepted the fact that there are some issues in their middle-order which will be resolved soon.
We have chased 200 so our strike rate can’t be that bad: Mohammad Rizwan
“We’ve never felt an issue with Babar’s strike rate. When he goes big he generally has a strike rate over 140. People talk about our strike rate but do remember we chased down 200, just the two of us, so our strike rate can’t be that bad. There was an issue with the middle order, but we have more personnel coming in, so hopefully, that should be resolved now,” said Rizwan as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Rizwan recently bagged much limelight when he pushed his franchise Multan Sultans to their maiden PSL title. He has been displaying a rich vein of T20 form over the last six months. After his match-winning knock of 89 runs in the 3rd T20I in Napier, he has scored 619 runs in 11 innings. It has to be noted that he has even carried his bat five times in his last 10 T20I knocks where he averaged 103.16. All this thrilling action came from his bat over a strike rate of 142.95.
Also, in the latest turn of events, Rizwan spoke on he would never show his willingness for bagging captaincy. He added that Babar Azam is an excellent captain and he would keep backing him as long as he continues his stint as a skipper of Pakistan.
