India’s exceptional bowling restricted New Zealand to 132 in the 2nd T20I of the ongoing five-match T20I series. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers as he gave away just 18 runs in his full quota of four overs along with picking two crucial wickets of the Kiwi captain Kane Williamson and Colin de Grandhomme. Apart from Jadeja, Japrit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami also bowled impressively in the death overs.

India chased the total inside 18 overs on the back of a superb half-century by KL Rahul. Team India took a 2-0 lead in the series with three more games to go. Many expected Ravindra Jadeja to get the player of the match award for his heroics with the ball and turning the game towards his side. Interestingly, the Man of the Match award was given to KL Rahul. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored an unbeaten 57-run knock in the game.

Sanjay Manjrekar and Ravindra Jadeja – The Twitter game continues

After India dominated New Zealand with both bat and ball at Eden Park, Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted, “Player of the match should have been a bowler”. To this, Ravindra Jadeja, in his own cheeky style replied, “What is the name of that bowler?? Pls pls mention.”

Sanjay Manjrekar handled things calmly as he politely replied, “Ha ha…Either you or Bumrah. Bumrah, because he was extremely economical while bowling overs no 3, 10, 18 and 20..”

The story of Ravindra Jadeja and Sanjay Manjrekar is not new to the cricketing world. In last year’s World Cup in England, Sanjay Manjrekar called Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ player. To that Jadeja replied, “Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved.i have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea.”

Interestingly, Ravindra Jadeja did exceedingly well in the semi-final for Team India against New Zealand but his knock wasn’t enough for the Indian team as they got defeated to Kiwis by 18 runs and got eliminated from the mega event.

Team India will next play New Zealand in the 3rd T20I on 29th January. Virat Kohli-led side will aim to seal the series in the upcoming game.
