It was one of the amusing comments made by any cricketer when the Pakistan player, Abdul Razzaq was once quoted saying that “Ahmed Shehzad has more talent than Sachin Tendulkar ever had.”

Here, I’m not going to compare the stats of Ahmed Shehzad and Sachin Tendulkar, as it doesn’t make any sense. Take nothing away from Shehzad, who is a highly talented cricketer and with years to come, we will witness how good a player he can be for the men in green.

I forced Sachin Tendulkar to retire from ODIs, jokes Ajmal:

It was not the only embarrassing news I have ever heard. To add to that here comes another one from the Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal who once joked that he forced Sachin Tendulkar to retire from ODIs.

However, this is something he said in a humour flavour. In his interview with Wisden India, Ajmal said it was that wicket which forced Tendulkar to call time on his ODI career after 463 matches. “I took his wicket in Mohali (2011 World Cup semi-final) as well. He is a super superstar, that’s what the world calls him. He has nearly 50,000 runs in professional cricket. So obviously it was a great moment for me when I took his wicket.”

“He was having trouble in picking the doosra in his last ODI in the Asia Cup. Misbah said to me we could get him out caught at slips. Younis Khan moved to slips and it worked out exactly as planned. I got the wicket of the world-class batsman and it came off such a great delivery that he was compelled to quit ODI cricket after it,” Ajmal added.

I just recollected few of these embarrassing stories as I heard a similar one from the former West Indies great Michael Holding today. Holding was quoted saying that he wants Sarfraz Ahmed in World Test XI instead of AB de Villiers.
