The second ODI between Ireland and South Africa turned out to be another memorable day for the Irish cricket team. After the first ODI got washed out, Andy Balbirnie and Co. took the honors of the second game, leaving South Africa plenty to think about and worry about going into the third game.

Batting first, on the back of a brilliant century by captain Andy Balbirnie and Harry Tector’s 79 runs, Ireland found a great script to their essay. But, it was George Dockrell’s 23-ball 45 which put them in the driving seat.

The third and the final match will be taking the play on Friday, July 16 with South Africa now on the backfoot. Ireland will try to close out the series with another win. However, Proteas will know, despite the fact that they can’t win the series now, they can still get another 10 points for their ICC ODI Super League.

It will be a great opportunity for the Proteas to get a win and be positive before the T20I series starts. However, the task won’t be so easy, given how Ireland has played so far.

Playing combination for IRE vs SA

Ireland

Ireland made one change of that leaving out former skipper William Porterfield. The move brought Balbirnie to open, who instantly found success. Ireland may continue with the same combination, given the success which they got in last match.

Predicted XI

Andrew Balbirnie (c), Paul Stirling, Andy McBrine, Harry Tector, George Dockrell, Curtis Campher, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Simi Singh, Mark Adair, Craig Young, Joshua Little

Bench: Graeme McCarter, Barry McCarthy, Graham Kennedy, William Porterfield

South Africa

South Africa has a couple of things to sort. Their bowling is an issue obviously as they leaked more runs than they would have liked. On top of that, they haven’t picked up a lot of wickets as well, which is absolutely the worst-case scenario. The middle-order would also want to perform well. There is no update on Quinton de Kock, and he could be seen warming benches again.

Predicted XI

Aiden Markram, Janneman Malan, Temba Bavuma (c), Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne (wk), David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi

Bench: Quinton de Kock, Lizaad Williams, Dwaine Pretorius, Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, George Linde, Heinrich Klaasen, Bjorn Fortuin, Lungi Ngidi
