The All-India Junior Selection Committee recently named a 20-member squad for the 2021 ACC U19 Asia Cup. While announcing the squad, Delhi’s Yash Dhull got named as the captain of the squad and will be leading the squad during the tournament, scheduled between December 23 to January 01.

Moving in the same sequence, the same committee on December 19 announced the 17-member India squad for the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, where Dhull got chosen as the leader of the side yet again. Talking about the young cricketer, he was one of the leading run-scorers in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy in the 2021-22 season held in September-October.

Yash Dhull has led Delhi’s U16, U19, and India A U19 sides

He also went on to smash 302 runs for the DDCA in the five games he played with a stunning average of 75.50. Yash, who hails from New Delhi’s Janakpuri, has experience of leading Delhi’s U-16, U-19, and India ‘A’ U-19 sides. The right-handed middle-order batter got into Bal Bhawan school’s academy at the tender age of 11 and developed his game from here.

Struggles and family background of Yash Dhull

Yash’s father worked as an executive with a cosmetic brand but had to give up his job to shape his child’s career. When asked about his role model in the field of cricket in a recent interview, Dhull refrained from taking a particular name.

“I had to ensure he got the best kit and gear to play from an early age. I gave him the best of English willow bats. He didn’t have just one bat, I kept upgrading them. We had cut down on our expenses. My father was an army man. The pension that he received was used to run the household. Yash would always wonder how we were managing it,” said Yash’s father while speaking to Times Now.

“Anyone who plays at the international level is good enough to learn from. I follow everyone’s game closely. I don’t copy anybody, but everyone is my hero,” said Yash earlier.
