There is no dearth of banter when India and Australia lock horns. The two top sides in world cricket have given some riveting moments for the fans to cherish over the years. Much of the banter nowadays is friendly in nature, and both the players as well as the fans enjoy the moments.

There was the famous babysitting incident that took place between Tim Paine and Rishabh Pant the previous time India toured the land of the Kangaroos. In the ongoing third Test between the two sides at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), there was a friendly bit of banter that took place between Shubman Gill and Marnus Labuschagne in the third over of India’s second innings.

When Gill was batting on 4, Labuschagne, fielding at short leg asked the batsman as to who his favorite player is. The Indian opener responded and said that he will let him know his favorite player after the match. “Sachin?” asked Labuschagne.

Here’s the video:

Smith powers Australia past 300

Meanwhile, Steve Smith returned to his run-scoring ways and scored a scintillating 131 to power Australia to a total of 338. In a masterclass that lasted 226 deliveries, the batting legend scored 16 boundaries to keep India at bay. Smith’s innings came to a close courtesy of a moment of brilliance from Ravindra Jadeja.

Desperate to retain the strike, the batsman charged for the second run. Jadeja hit the bulls eye running in from square leg, and Smith was caught inches short of the crease. Labuschagne missed his hundred in the first session of the day. The right-hander was dismissed just 9 runs short of his hundred, as he edged a delivery from Jadeja to Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane at slip.

India will now have to bat well in the first innings now to put pressure on Australia and make them bat late in the match. They will have to tackle Nathan Lyon well though. On a lighter note, let us actually wait and watch if Gill reveals his favorite player to Marnus Labuschagne after the match.
