WICB President’s XI v India, 2nd Warm up game – Day 2 Review

India took a huge first innings lead on the 2nd day of the final warm-up game before the Test series against West Indies. India posted 364 in reply to West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI’s 180. At the end of Day 2, President’s XI lost a wicket scoring 26.

India resumed at the overnight score of 93/3 with KL Rahul and captain Virat Kohli ensuing India didn’t lose any wickets in the morning session. Rahul, who was batting on 30 at the end of Day 1 continued his form scoring consecutive half-centuries in warm up games. He survived a chance at 49 but went to lunch scoring 64. Kohli, who had a disappointing outing in first game utilized this chance by scoring a fifty.

Rahul and Kohli put on an 88-run stand in the first session in 26.3 overs before Rahul retired out after scoring 64 off 127 balls with 9 fours and a six. Kohli brought up his fifty after Lunch in 88 balls with 4 fours but soon after that he was trapped in front of Cornwall. Ajinkya Rahane and Stuart Binny put on a stand of 45 runs for the 6th wicket before Cornwall struck twice sending back both the batsmen. Binny edged one to the keeper after scoring 16 while Rahane was caught at short leg scoring 32 in 77 balls with 5 fours.

Wriddhiman Saha and Ravindra Jadeja put on some quick runs before Saha was run out as they tried to steal the third run. Saha scored 31 in 47 balls with 5 fours. Jadeja batted out with the lower order and scored a quick fifty. He struck 8 fours in his 56-run knock from 61 balls. However, Jadeja turned out to be Cornwall’s 5th wicket as he gave a simple return catch to the off-spinner.

The Indian inning came to an end at 364 after another run out after Ashwin scored a handy 26 with Mishra unbeaten on 11.

President’s XI started their 2nd innings trailing by 184 runs. They posted 26 runs in 8 overs before Ashwin picked up the wicket on last ball of the day as Leon Johnson gave him a return catch after scoring 17.
