Veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina recently made his comeback to the national side. Raina played for India in the first T20I against South Africa in Johannesburg recently. Albeit he did not have a dream comeback, the veteran certainly showed great spark on the field. Recently, Raina had spoken in detail about how the youngsters in the Indian cricket circle need to focus on the job in hand.

Suresh Raina was very particular in his critique for the U19 cricketers. The India U19 team won the ICC U19 World Cup this year. Their success has been immense and the young lads are fetching big money from all corners. Commenting on the same, Suresh Raina congratulated the members of the U19 side. He also remarked that the credit goes to their coach, Rahul Dravid, for grooming them so well.

As per the quotes in TOI, Raina revealed that he has been spending a lot of time with youngster from the batch, Shivam Mavi and Manjot Kalra. He admitted that they are indeed very impressive in their respective traits.

“The boys really played well and the credit goes to the coach of the team Rahul Dravid and captain Prithvi Shaw. At this stage, it really makes a difference if you have had coaches and administrators who can lead you. I have been meeting these boys – Shivam Mavi and Manjot Kalra from Delhi – and what I always tell them is that one should always live in the present. All these guys – like many of us – have come from middle class families, and are now celebrities,” Suresh Raina quoted.

Carrying the responsibility with maturity

Adding more to the same note, Suresh Raina remarked that it is always a good feeling to get rewards for the hardwork. The name, fame, and everything else seems very pleasing. But the young players must handle this with responsibility. They should not get carried away by these attractions and focus on the game. Most players fail to do so, hence, their consistency gets affected.

“Jab cricket se shohrat milti hai, paisa milta hai, achha lagta hai, par uske saath responsibility bhi aati hai. It will be a challenge for them to be consistent in their performance. Now, there is so much pressure on players that every second player is good enough to fill in your shoes, so you have to perform in every match. Everyone is working hard and cricket is also a game of luck – that’s what I believe,” he added further.
