The Windies team will tour India for two Tests, five One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals. The schedule of the same was announced today along with the 15-man Test squad of the visiting team. Things get underway with the Test series that starts on October 4 in Rajkot, the second Test will be hosted in Hyderabad.

Cricket Windies also named the squad led by Jason Holder for the Test series. The selectors gave Sunil Ambris a recall in the side and 38-year-old Devon Smith has been axed from the team. Ambris made his Test debut against New Zealand in December last year, but couldn’t make it count with three single-figure scores including a duck in his first four innings. The selectors had overlooked him for the series against Bangladesh but it was his knock of 128 and a half century against India A and Surrey in the last three first-class matches that earned Ambris a spot for the tour of India.

The selectors congratulated Holder and his team for their success against Bangladesh in the home series. Chairman of selectors Courtney Browne is expecting them to carry the confidence from the last two performances against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka into the tour of India.

“The panel congratulates Jason Holder and his team on the excellent performance against Bangladesh. As the team embarks on a tough tour of India, the successes against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh should hold them in good stead during the India series,” Browne said. “The panel welcomes back Sunil Ambris who missed the last couple of series due to injury, along with Jomel Warrican who adds a second spin bowling option to the attack,” he added.

After the contest in the whites both the teams will play eight limited-overs encounters. Whereas Team India is a much superior side in the Tests as the No.1 team just don’t lose matches at home, when it comes to the coloured clothing, Windies will want to strike back hard and also set things in place keeping the World Cup 2019 in mind.
