Things could have gone either way in the second T20I between Windies and India. However, the rain interruption meant that the game flung in the favour of India. With this, the ‘Men in Blue‘ have already clinched the series and the third T20I between these two sides is essentially a dead rubber. The proceedings will move to Guyana from Florida for this encounter.

Given that the home team has got a better understanding of the conditions, they’ve got a chance of redemption. Also, the pitches for the first two games in the series haven’t been great. Thus, the fans would be hoping for a run feast at least this time around and a close, nail-biting contest is always welcome. Will India make it a clean sweep before they head into the ODI series is a question that only time will answer.

Pitch and Conditions

A T20I game will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana after over nine years. The pitch here is usually good to bat on. But it is when you look up towards the skies, there will be a slight concern. Thunderstorms are predicted throughout the week. Throughout the duration of the match, there is a prediction for a scattered thunderstorm. Thus, the match could be shortened. With humidity on the higher side, the ball is expected to come onto the bat quicker than usual.

Team Combinations

Windies

Windies seemed to have struck the right kind of balance in the last game. With Sunil Narine opening the batting, they can have some flexibility down the order. Evin Lewis is a game-changer in this format and they might continue to back him. The likes of Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer form a brutal force in the middle order. The bowling department, however, should work on being more economical and should be more disciplined.

Probable XI

Sunil Narine, Evin Lewis, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Rovman Powell, Kieron Pollard, Shimron Hetmyer, Carlos Brathwaite (c), Keemo Paul, Khary Pierre, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas.

India

Since India has already won the series, they might look at this game as an opportunity to give some new players a chance. Manish Pandey hasn’t really done much in the two opportunities he got thus far and he could be replaced by Shreyas Iyer. Rahul Chahar might have to wait a bit longer to make his debut.

In case he is to fit into the eleven, he should replace either of Ravindra Jadeja or Krunal Pandya which doesn’t seem likely. He can’t replace Washington Sundar as at least one off-spinner is a must given the number of left-handers in the opposition. Deepak Chahar might get consideration in place of Khaleel Ahmed.

Probable XI

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Manish Pandey/Shreyas Iyer, Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Khaleel Ahmed/Deepak Chahar.

Probable Top Performers

Rovman Powell – Windies | Rishabh Pant – India
