The dressing room of the Bangladesh team was damaged after the semi-final of the Nihadas Trophy 2018 which the visiting team won in a nail-biting finish against hosts Sri Lanka. To be precise, a window of their dressing room was broken, but how and who caused the same has not been found yet. The ground staff at the R. Premadasa Stadium has been requested to check the CCTV footage and identify who did that.
Bangladesh won the game by two wickets in the penultimate ball of the game to become the second finalists. They required 12 runs off the last over and argued that the umpire failed to adjudge a no ball bowled by Isuru Udana which was the bouncer in the over to Mustafizur Rahman. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan was animated and speaking angrily to the fourth umpire and even gestured to call the batsmen back to the pavilion. This caused much tension on the field and the situation was eventually defused and the on-field batsmen stayed and the match continued.
Towards the end, Tamim Iqbal was also seen calming things down between the two sets of players. The ground staff is supposed to submit a report to the match referee Chris Broad before 12 noon on Saturday and the umpires will also have a look at the footage.
Bangladesh have never beaten India in T20Is
The final will be played between India and Bangladesh at the same venue, on Sunday, March 18. Over the past few years, both the teams have developed an intense rivalry. With the return of Shakib, who is the best T20 all-rounder at present, his side has got the momentum back.
Rohit Sharma & Co., on the other hand, is a second-string Indian team that has most names who don’t feature in the team often. But despite that, they’ve shown a lot of potential and except the defeat in the first match have been up to the mark.
