Winnipeg Hawks sign David Warner in the Global T20 Canada

Global T20 Canada is slated to be held between June 25 and July 28.

In the Global T20 Canada player draft, the teams signed up some of the top stars from around the world. The Toronto Nationals, Vancouver Knights, Montreal Tigers, Edmonton Royals and Winnipeg Hawks picked one player each per round of the player draft. The six teams in the league are- Vancouver, Montreal, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Cricket Windies’ representative team. Global T20 Canada is slated to be held between June 25 and July 28.

Toronto went for West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard in round 3, his compatriot Evin Lewis was the choice for Vancouver, Montreal decided to go for Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera, the Royals bought Luke Ronchi and the big name in the draft David Warner will play for the Hawks.

Rounds of the draft

In the first round of the draft, some of the most popular T20 names were signed up. Darren Sammy (Toronto), Chris Gayle (Vancouver), Lasith Malinga (Montreal), Shahid Afridi (Edmonton) and DJ Bravo (Hawks).

Round two was interesting as it featured the former Australian captain Steve Smith. Though Smith has been banned by Cricket Australia from playing any international or domestic cricket he will feature in the T20 league. The team from Toronto got hold of the batter while the big West Indian all-rounder Andrew Russell will play for Vancouver. Others who were contracted in the round are – Sunil Narine (Montreal), Chris Lynn (Edmonton) and David Miller (Winnipeg).

The likes of Kamran Akmal, Tim Southee, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammed Irfan and Lendl Simmons were up for grabs in round 4 and were signed up by Toronto Nationals, Vancouver Knights, Montreal Tigers, Edmonton Royals and Winnipeg Hawks respectively. In the next round, the teams picked Hussain Talat (TN), Chadwick Walton (VK), Denesh Ramdin (MT), Sohail Tanvir (ER), Darren Bravo (WH).

Round 6: Ruman Raees (TN), Fawad Ahmed (VK), Sandeep Lamichhane (MT), Christiaan Jonker (ER), Fidel Edwards (WH).

Round 7: Nikhil Dutta (TN), Babar Hayat (VK), Sikandar Raza (MT), Wayne Parnell (ER), Rayad Emrit (WH).

Round 8: Johnson Charles (TN), Sheldon Cottrell (VK), Dasun Shanka (MT), Asif Ali (ER), Ben Mcdermott (WH)

Round 9: Kesrick Williams (TN), Saad Bin Zafar (VK), Isuru Udana (MT), Hasan Khan (ER), Ali Khan (WH).

Round 10: Naveed Ahmed (TN), Ruvindu Gunasekera (VK), George Worker (MT), Agha Salman (ER), Hamza Tariq (WH)

Round 11: Nazakat Khan (TN), Srimantha Wijeratne (VK), Najibullah Zadran (MT), Shaiman Anwar (ER), Junaid Siddique (WH)

Round 12: Farhan Malik (TN), Kamau Leverock (VK), Cecil Pervez (MT), Ammar Khalid (ER), Tion Webster (WH)
