Veteran batsman Manoj Tiwary has praised Ravi Shastri for his message to Suryakumar Yadav after the latter’s stunning knock for Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday. The right-handed batsman played a scintillating knock of 79* off just 43 balls to help Mumbai Indians beat RCB by five wickets and return to winning ways.
Suryakumar’s knock came just a couple of days after he missed out on India’s squads for the upcoming tour of Australia. The Mumbai star was being backed by several quarters to earn his maiden India call-up because of his consistent performances but the selectors decided otherwise. And the 30-year old didn’t take long to respond to the disappointing snub in style.
Mumbai Indians were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 72 for 3 at one stage. However, Suryakumar kept his composure and held firm from one end before going on to finish the game with five balls remaining. Soon after he took Mumbai over the finishing line, the cricketing fraternity started lavishing praise on him.

India head coach Ravi Shastri also took to Twitter to praise Suryakumar Yadav. While paying tribute to the batsman, Shastri also told him to stay strong and patient while waiting for his chance in the national team. Manoj Tiwary was impressed with Shastri’s tweet and made sure to praise the former India all-rounder.
The out-of-favour India batsman wished Shastri was the coach when he lost his place in the Indian team despite scoring a century before saying that the coach’s words would make Suryakumar happy, tweeting, “I just wish u were the coach of Indian team during the series where i scored Hundred .. Your message like this would have surely helped my international career. Seeing this tweet of urs #Surya will be happy”

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ stand-in captain Kieron Pollard stated that his teammate was disappointed after the India snub. Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Pollard was all praise for the way Suryakumar paced his innings before speaking on the snub from the Indian team. Just like Shastri, Pollard too urged Suryakumar to stay patient while waiting for his opportunity.
“Imagine someone batting at that strike rate after two early wickets. Deep down inside he must be very very disappointed to not have donned the blue for India. He just keeps getting better. Again as an individual if you keep staying consistent, you will be rewarded. Nothing happens before its time,” said the West Indies T20I captain.
