Twitter Reaction: Charged Hashim Amla helps South Africa defuse Ireland bowling: South Africa was shown the mirror by India in their second world cup 2015 match and had no way to win over the defending champions. Everybody made fun of the Proteas and reminded them that they are chokers and all the tags that are associated with the team.
But come the next match against West Indies and skipper AB de Villiers was determined to shake the loss off as something unfortunate and show the world what Protea Fire is. The team ended up scoring 408 runs in their 50 overs; it was the 4th instance that they crossed the 400 run mark in ODI cricket.
Ireland the next opponent were obviously not the favorites to beat South Africa but one does have expectations from William Porterfield and his men to give a strong fight back. They said they were prepared for AB de Villiers but what the Irish missed out to check was the ever consistent Hashim Amla and the flowing Faf du Plessis both of whom laid a strong foundation which was later capitalized by David Miller and Rilee Rossouw whose late charge took the team past 400 and South Africa have set Ireland the target of 412 to chase.
The twitter world not only praised South Africa for becoming the first team to score consecutive scores of 400 and Amla for becoming the fastest batsman to score 20 ODI tons, a few mimicked the Ireland while others back them to beat the, umm.. Chokers!
Here are the tweets we found hilarious enough to be magnified:
If South Africa elects to bat first, the second innings should just be a live feed of the opposition weeping in their dressing room

South Africa claim they don’t break records but set them..could they be setting the record for losing at a WC with 400+ runs?? #BackingGreen

There have only been 5 run chases above 300 in World Cup history and Ireland is responsible for 3. Can it chase 400?
