Match Details:

The 25th match of the 2019 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) will be played between Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers at the Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide.

The match starts at 1:40 PM local time (3:10 AM GMT) (8:40 AM IST).

The game can be viewed on the Cricket Australia website.

Preview:

Adelaide Strikers have been quite good in the ongoing tournament with four wins out of the six matches they played. They recorded three consecutive wins before losing to Brisbane Heat last week. The Strikers posted only 141 in their 20 overs during that game. The total was too less for the defending champions who chased it down losing only one wicket. They will now host the Perth Scorchers at the Karen Rolton Oval on Saturday.

While the Strikers are placed at No.2, the Scorchers occupy the 2nd last position in the points table. The Meg Lanning-led team has struggled for consistency losing in three out of five matches. Both the wins came while one of the two openers were unbeaten in the chase. Piepa Cleary has been doing well with the ball and is now ruled out for this weekend’s matches due to the leg injury she suffered against Melbourne Stars.

Weather Condition/Report:

The weather forecast suggests no rain on Saturday but there could be some clouds around the venue in the first half of the match.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Karen Rolton Oval is fairly high-scoring venue as it has witnessed scores around 150 more often. Earlier this season, Melbourne Renegades successfully chased down a 150+ target. With both the teams’ top batters in good form, we could see after big run-chase at this venue.

Average first innings score: 153 (WBBL games since 2018/19)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 3, Lost – 1, Tied – 1

Expert Advice:

Adelaide Strikers have not changed their XI in this tournament barring Lauren Winfield coming in for Stafanie Taylor. On the other hand, Perth Scorchers have been inconsistent with their performances but it might not reflect in their selections. Piepa Cleary suffered a leg injury in the previous game and her exclusion will probably be the only change.

Probable Winners:

Perth Scorchers are expected to bounce back with their 3rd win of the tournament.
