As the enthralling journey of Women’s T20 World Cup continued with two enthralling matches as South Africa tumped Thailand in the eleventh match of the tournament. After winning the toss and electing to bat first. A dominant South African batting force exhibited their class as opener Lizelle Lee smashed a sublime ton propel her side to a flying start.

Lee scored 101 off just 60 balls and weaved her knock around 16 fours and 3 sixes to help South Africa post a mammoth total of 195 runs. She was well assisted by Sune Luus, who also amassed 61 runs off 41 deliveries to keep the scoreboard ticking. Chloe Tyron’s quick-fire 24-run cameo helped South Africa in reaching a massive total.

It was going to be an uphill task for Thailand Women to hunt down the total, especially after losing wickets at regular intervals. No other batswoman apart from Onnicha Kamchomphu was able to stick to the wicket for a prolonged period of time. She stitched 26 runs off 21 balls to emerge as the sole warrior for her side.

Inexperience was evident in Thailand’s batting endeavour as most of their batswoman returned to the pavilion on single-digit scores. Eventually, Thailand Women managed to gather only 82 runs on the board to hand over an easy victory to South Africa. The Proteas Women clinched the encounter by a massive margin of 113 runs to clinch the top spot in Group B table.

England clinched their second win of the tournament

The second encounter of the day was played between England Women and Pakistan Women where the former clinched their second victory of the tournament. After being put to bat first, England Women amassed 158 runs on the scoreboard on the back of impressive batting performances from the trio of Sciver, Knight and Wilson.

After amassing a competitive total of 158 runs, England Women put the pressure on Pakistan Women from the word go after they scalped early wickets in the powerplay. Pakistan Women were left reeling at the score of 50/5 after the completion of first 10 overs. Aliya Riaz’s 41-run knock notched up the hopes of Pakistan Women towards the end but she was eventually dismissed by Ecclestone in the 19th over.

Pakistan Women were left short of the target as they could amass only 116 runs on the board in their stipulated 20 overs as the English Women registered a 42-run victory in the T20 World Cup heist.
