Team India has been on a record-breaking spree off late in the longest format of the game and going into the much-awaited 4 match series against Australia, the No.1 team in the world is definitely the overwhelming favourites. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly also feels the same and further said that he won’t be surprised if India demolishes the Australians yet again by a 4-0 margin. Australia was also whitewashed 4-0 during their previous tour in India in 2013.

“Yes, it will be very difficult (for Australia). As I said, I don’t predict in cricket, but I won’t be surprised if India wins 4-0,” Ganguly who was present during the launch of a new range of Tetley Super Green Teas by Tata Global Beverages told reporters. Speaking on Team India’s tremendous record in home since 2012 the legendary captain said that it has been the quality spinners which has made India so dominant in home conditions.

“Same thing that has made India dominant at home over the last 25 years – spinners. They just keep coming one after the other. (Anil) Kumble and Harbhajan (Singh) in my time, (Ravichandran) Ashwin and (Ravindra) Jadeja now,” Ganguly said.

“You just hand the ball to any spinner, you just give it to Amit Mishra, he wins you games. You give it to Yuzvendra Chahal, he wins you games. You give it to off-spinner (Jayant) Yadav, he wins you games. So that’s what it is – spin. In India, you have to play spin well and bowl spin well to win, simple,” the former captain opined.

Ganguly who is a big fan of Virat Kohli once again praised the modern master for raising the bar every time he walks out to bat. “He (Kohli) is good physically and as a batsman he is brilliant,” he said.

Speaking on if it would be easy for Virat Kohli to lead the national in all three formats, Ganguly said, “Yes, it was only a matter of time. (Mahendra Singh) Dhoni has been remarkable. What Dhoni has done over the years is terrific and its a cycle of life that somebody has to take over. Every good thing in life will be taken over by someone.”
