'Words fail me at this moment' - Mohammed Siraj thanks Anand Mahindra after receiving Thar SUV

Mohammed Siraj has become the latest India star to receive a Thar SUV as a gift from Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group. Mr. Mahindra had promised to gift new Mahindra Thar to six young Indian stars after their impressive performances in the Border-Gavaskar Series against Australia earlier this year.

He had made the promise soon after India’s historic series-clinching win at the Gabba in January. Apart from Siraj, Mr. Mahindra had also promised to gift the SUV to Shubman Gill, T Natarajan, Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar, and Navdeep Saini. All the youngsters had played key roles in India’s 2-1 series win over Australia.

Siraj, in fact, was one of the best performers of the series. The right-arm pacer made his debut in the second Test of the series. He got the opportunity only because Mohammed Shami had suffered an injury in the first Test and made the most of the opportunity. In his debut Test, he picked up five wickets to help India beat Australia by eight wickets at the iconic MCG and draw level in the series.

In the third Test at the SCG, he picked up two wickets. In the same match, he also faced racial abuse from few spectators. Siraj had stood up against the racists and made sure that the world took notice of the shameful incident. He had saved his best performance for the last Test in Brisbane. After taking only one wicket in the first innings, the Hyderabad star picked up five wickets in the second to play a key role in India’s thrilling win.

Mohammed Siraj’s message for Anand Mahindra

Mohammed Siraj received his Thar SUV recently and immediately thanked Mr. Mahindra for the gift. The four-wheeler was received by his brother. Siraj could not receive the gift by himself since he is in bio-bubble in Chennai for the upcoming IPL. Posting a picture of the Thar, Siraj said that he was lost for words as he tweeted:

“Words fail me at this moment. There is nothing I can say or do that will adequately express how I feel about your beautiful gift @Mahindra_Thar. For now, I’ll just say a big fat thank you @anandmahindra sir #AnandMahindra #thankyou,”
