Mitchell Starc has been sensational in the ongoing cricket World Cup in England and Wales. The left-arm Australian seamer took his second four-for in the tournament and it came against arch-rivals England to help his team script a 64-run win to enter the semi-finals. It is a good comeback tale for a man who was plagued by injuries a few months ago and even his cricketer wife had to step in to defend him in public during a Test series versus India.

Starc has 19 scalps in the tournament so far and is not too far from bettering his record of picking 22 wickets in the 2015 edition of the World Cup. And during his demolition act against the Three Lions along with Jason Behrendorff who took a fifer, the cricketing world was left speculating after Starc’s wife Alyssa Healy took to Twitter to suggest that the bowler’s fireworks were perhaps fuelled by an anecdote happened at the breakfast. And it was something related to the evergreen Australia-England rivalry in the sport.

When the 29-year-old bowler faced the media after decimating England, there were fewer questions related to his cricketing skills but “What happened at breakfast?”

“Someone was having a go at my strapping tape and me eating too much and how it was going to affect my bowling. I was just hungry,” Starc was quoted as saying by a report in news.com.au.

However, Starc did not identify the ‘instigator’ saying it was “some bloke in a suit”. When asked about his food, the Australian said: “A few poached eggs… three I think.”

It was later learnt that the man who pointed out at an ‘overeating’ Starc was an “old” English and gave him a clip about his elbow strapping. Starc though said that it was just a bit of fun and nothing serious.

The man had kept all the seriousness for his spell on the ground, it seems.

Pakistan team has also been trolled for over intake of food

This is not the first instance of shaming cricketers at this World Cup over their eating. The Pakistan team has also come under serious flak over their eating habits after the loss to India. The matter went to such extremes that even their captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was called “a fat pig” by a random fan at a mall.
