The Indian team finally got a positive start to their ICC World Cup 2019 as they won their second warm-up game against Bangladesh in emphatic fashion. The Indian batsmen came to the party, albeit the middle order as KL Rahul scored a sublime 108 to cement his place at no.4 in the playing XI and MS Dhoni too clobbered a brilliant 113 runs in 78 balls to show that his form from IPL is still red hot.

India had scored a mammoth 359 runs for loss of seven wickets and Bangladesh team was nowhere near the total, despite a valiant 90 from Mushfiqur Rahim and 70-odd form Liton Das, as other batsmen found it hard to counter the Indian spin trio of Kuldeep and Chahal, who both picked three wickets each, while Jadeja picked two wickets.

KL Rahul talks about batting at no.4

It was a moment of amazement for Rahul, whose spot in the team was under question, as he vanquished all doubts about his form. He got to apply himself in the second game and at a time when India was 100-odd for 4 wickets. The original batsman chose for no.4 spot, Vijay Shankar, got out early batting at no.5 and this meant that Rahul and Dhoni had to do the construct the innings.

In the after-match presentation, KL Rahul spoke about his century and how he has to bat at no.4 despite being an opener. “Look like I said as it is a team game, you need to be flexible and u need to be ready to bat wherever needed. As a player, you need to take up whatever role is given to you. We have prepared all throughout our careers making ourselves ready to make the best of whatever is thrown at us. I don’t think anything is different at this stage,” KL Rahul said in the post-match press conference.

The KL Rahul-MS Dhoni duo added 164 runs for the fifth wicket and took India to a big score. Dhoni was sublime in his innings, as he switched gears like he used to do before, as he had previously scored 30 runs in his first 30 balls, but then ended up making his century in double quick time.

KL Rahul also spoke about batting with MS Dhoni and was quoted as speaking, “Batting with MS is a dream. luckily for me, I’ve had a few good partnerships with him in the last 2-3 years. I enjoy batting with him and the way he batted today was just so good to watch from the other end. he dominated the spinners from the first ball and was striking the ball really well, was a great time for us.”
