Virat Kohli has not only matured over the years from an unruly teenager to a brilliant yet aggressive captain who knows how to carry himself on the field as he is setting an example for youngsters. Kohli has led Team India to two wins in the World Cup 2019 so far, one against South Africa and another versus Australia. It can be termed as an impressive all-around performance from the Men in Blue.

In the first innings of the match against Australia, former captain Steve Smith was sent to field on the boundary and the crowd there started to heckle him and chant cheater for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in 2018. Virat Kohli, who was batting at that time saw what was happening and gestured towards the crowd, which consisted of many Indian fans, that they should stop that immediately and instead cheer him.

This display by the Indian captain was lauded by many current and former cricketers, however, one Englishman who has played Test cricket for the Three Lions and is related to one of the greatest England batsmen of all time didn’t think it was that great of a gesture.

Compton not impressed

Nick Compton felt that Kohli had no right to tell the crowd what to do and vented his feeling out in a video, “I don’t think Virat Kohli had any right to tell fans to stop booing at Warner and Smith but rather clap them.. found it rather condescending if truth be told!”

Manoj Tiwary lambasts Nick Compton

Manoj Tiwary, Indian cricketer, and Bengal’s Ranji captain came out in support of Kohli, with whom he played for Indian team some time back. Tiwary mentioned that Wat is wrong wit this man ?? Humanity is far more beyond just rights nd wrongs in life. Grow up, Nick Compton. U won’t understand how we Indians feel about certain things in life. Request you to not drink before u make such comments

India handed Australia a 36-run defeat at the Oval as Shikhar Dhawan slammed 117 and Kohli made 82 to take India to 352 runs. In reply, Warner, Smith, and Carey made half-centuries, but three-wicket hauls from both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah and tight bowling in middle overs by Kuldeep and Chahal meant that Australia just couldn’t get enough firepower to make a beeline for the total.

India will next play New Zealand on June 13, while Australia takes on Pakistan on June 12.
