With only one week left for the World Cup 2019, many experts are putting forth their analysis for the mega event. Currently, the ten participating teams are busy giving final touches to their preparations and are gearing up for the warm-up matches. England and South Africa will kick off their campaign on May 30 at the Kennington Oval in London.

Meanwhile, former England cricketer, Michael Vaughan, has put forth his best playing XI from players in all the ten teams. For the opening slot, Vaughan went for Rohit Sharma and David Warner. While Rohit has been in awe-inspiring form for India over the last few years, Warner would be making his national comeback after serving his one-year suspension.

Warner has impressed Vaughan to such an extent that he’s ready to take the Australian southpaw in Test and T20I cricket as well. “[Rohit Sharma] hasn’t just scored centuries, he has scored double centuries. David Warner gets in all my format teams- tests, ODIs and T20s,” Vaughan was quoted as saying in a video on Twitter.

Vaughan also picked Pakistan’s Babar Azam ahead of the likes Joe Root and Ross Taylor, who he feels is ‘unlucky’ to miss out on a spot. Thereafter, Vaughan picked up the likes of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes. Buttler wielded the willow to good effect in the recently concluded ODI series against Pakistan.

Describing Stokes, the former England cricketer said, “High-class all-rounder, always in the game, whether with the bat in hand, the ball in hand or in the field. He’ll always create an impact.”

Vaughan picked Pakistan leg-break bowler, Shadab Khan and Pat Cummins. Backing his decision to select the latter, he mentioned: “An incredible new ball bowler, in the middle with some strong hitting with the bat and high class in the field.”

Vaughan’s words of praises for Jasprit Bumrah

Michael Vaughan selected English spinner, Adil Rashid, as well. It didn’t spring a surprise that he went for Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and lauded his efforts in the limited-overs formats. “The best white ball bowler in the world, quality at the start and outstanding at the death. Probably the best yorker bowler in world cricket as we speak,” he further added.

New Zealand seamer Trent Boult was his last pick in the eleven. The former Englishman was impressed with Boult’s prowess with the new ball and his ability to handle the pressure. Lastly, Vaughan went for Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan as the 12th man.

Here is Vaughan’s combined XI for the World Cup:

Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Shadab Khan, Pat Cummins, Adil Rashid, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, 12th man- Rashid Khan.
