After the first semi-final between India and New Zealand went into the reserve day, the former found themselves in grave trouble. On the first day, the Black Caps managed only 211 runs in 46.1 overs following which constant spells of downpour didn’t allow the game to resume. On the second day, the Kiwis crawled to a fighting score of 239 for eight in their 50 overs.

The Indian top-order had very little clue about the thunderbolts dished out by the fast bowling duo of Matt Henry and Trent Boult. In 3.1 overs, the Men in Blue were reduced to 5/3, leaving them in the absolute shambles. Matt Henry drew first blood, getting rid of Rohit Sharma, who had notched five centuries in the league stage. Then Boult pinned Virat Kohli in front.

Henry unfolded more mayhem as he got rid of KL Rahul as well. Dinesh Karthik played out a plethora of dot balls and fell prey to Henry. However, Rishabh Pant seemed determined, having scored 32 runs off 56 balls with four boundaries. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old couldn’t curb his natural instincts and threw his wicket away to Mitchell Santner after four dot deliveries.

Yuvraj Singh believes in MS Dhoni

Colin de Grandhomme took a good running catch at deep mid-wicket. Kohli from the dressing room wasn’t a pleased man by any means. All of a sudden, half the Indian batting lineup was back into the hut. Hardik Pandya tried hard with a 62-ball 32, but even he succumbed to the immense pressure. He tried to take Santner on only to be caught by skipper Kane Williamson.

The onus was then on MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to bail India out of the precarious position. In the meantime, Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricketer, isn’t a happy man. He urged the Indian middle-order to pick up singles under pressure. However, he also believed that Dhoni can help India to glory.

Yuvraj took to Twitter and wrote, “Under pressure middle order needs to learn how to take singles and at the moment we are struggling to do that. This is why experience plays an important role, hopefully mahi can take us through . #INDvNZL,”
