IPL is a tournament that has given name and fame to many but some players don’t require tournaments to make them shine. Such has been the story of Mitchel Starc. He is one of the few who has put forward his country above many rich offerings from IPL franchises. He was bought for a whopping 9.4 crore by KKR in IPL 2018 but later got injured. In 2019 he opted out of IPL auctions to concentrate on the 2019 ODI World cup.

Ace Australian fast bowler also opted out of the IPL 2020 last year to have his complete focus on the T-20 world cup which was earlier scheduled this year. Though the T-20 world cup was postponed owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, IPL is set to be held in UAE starting 19th September.

The T20 world cup was postponed earlier this year owing to the pandemic which gave a good window to BCCI to schedule IPL this year. The auction was held in December last year with the highest-paid being Pat Cummins bought by KKR at a whooping amount of 15.50 crores.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing: Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc believes he doesn’t regret missing the cash-rich league and said would rather focus on preparing for the Australian summer. He also insisted that he will enjoy watching his mates playing IPL.

“I know hindsight is a wonderful thing and now the IPL is on at a different time but no, I wouldn’t change it. I’m happy to spend that time when the blokes are at the IPL in September, I’ll be getting ready for summer,” he said as quoted by cricket.com.au

The Aussie though has pinned his hopes of playing the IPL next year. “The IPL will be around next year and if I feel the urge or people want me around I’ll consider it, but as of this year I’m very comfortable with the decisions I’ve made,” he said.

Starc has been one of the most prolific fast bowlers of all time for the Kangaroo nation. He was the Man of the tournament of the 2015 ODI world cup which Australia won. He though has been an irregular part of IPL having missed its previous three seasons.

Meanwhile, Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi are the three cities that are geared up to host the cash-rich league from 19th September.
