India’s wicketkeeper-batsman, Wriddhiman Saha who has been out of India’s squad ever since he left South Africa tour after the first Test at Cape Town due to an upper left hamstring tendon injury, assures to get back soon on the cricket field. The past few months haven’t fared well for Saha, who has gone through various ups and downs pertaining to a thumb injury in one of the IPL games where he was representing the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

It was originally in South Africa when Saha sustained a shoulder injury while attempting a catch it considered was a minor niggle and thus he was there playing the IPL. However, the shoulder trouble wasn’t just a niggle and it resurfaced. The way Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and National Cricket Academy (NCA) handled it was bizarre as he didn’t recover fully from first the injury he sustained in May, was allowed to play the IPL where he also sustained a thumb injury and then the shoulder trouble resurfaced.

At the NCA multiple doctors attended to him but was no avail and after staying out of action for a while now has to undergo a surgery.

Entire goof up at NCA in Bengaluru

“Wriddhiman’s rehabilitation has been a complete goof up. The NCA physio has bungled it big time. Now only a surgery can put him back on track. Once he is done with surgery, he will not touch the bat for at least two months and then rehab will start,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by the media.

It was much due to this goof up that he now relies on a surgery and rehab to get back on the field. He is in England where the doctors assessed the injury and he will go under the knife today. The cricketer shared a message to update about the surgery and thanked all his well-wishers for the constant support even in times of adversity.

He tweeted, “So far so good. Going for the surgery today. Thank You for all your love and good-wishes. Would like to thank @BCCI for all the necessary arrangements. Will soon be back on the field! #thankyou”
