The final match of the World Test Championship between India and New Zealand is evenly poised at the end of the fifth day. The Kiwi team was all-out for 249 runs in the first innings taking a lead of 32 runs. Mohammed Shami was the most successful bowler for India picking up 4 wickets for 76 runs. In the second innings, India scored 64 runs at the loss of 2 wickets with Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara at the crease. The team has taken a lead of 32 runs till now.

Let’s look at all the important stats and numbers after the end of fifth day’s play of the World Test Championship final:

600 – Tim Southee completed his 600 wickets in his International career during this match. He became the second bowler from New Zealand after Daniel Vettori (705) to reach the milestone.

281 – Ravi Ashwin picked up 2 wickets for 28 runs in the first innings. With this, he now has 281 Test wickets under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. He surpassed Makhaya Ntini in this regard who had 280 wickets with Graeme Smith leading the Proteas team. Dale Steyn who picked up 347 wickets under Graeme Smith is at the first spot.

46 –  Ishant Sharma picked up three wickets in the first innings for India. He now has 46 wickets in Tests in England surpassing Kapil Dev (43) to gain the top spot among the Indian bowlers.

18000 – Ross Taylor could score only 11 runs in this Test but achieved a major feat. He completed 18000 runs in International cricket and became the first player from New Zealand to reach the landmark.

1 – Mohammad Shami registered bowling figures of 4/76 in this Test. He became the first Indian bowler to pick a four-wicket haul in the final of an ICC event. Before him, the best bowling figures for India in the ICC final were by Mohinder Amarnath who picked up 3 wickets for 12 runs against West Indies in World Cup 1983.

2 – With 2 wickets in the first innings, Ravi Ashwin has taken his wickets tally in WTC to 69. He is now at the joint-second position along with Stuart Broad and is only behind Pat Cummins (70).

7178 – Kane Williamson played a gritty knock of 49 runs off 177 balls in this Test. He surpassed Stephen Fleming (7172) to reach the second spot in terms of highest Test run-scorers for New Zealand. Only Ross Taylor is ahead of him in this regard with 7517 Test runs.

15 – Kane Williamson scored only 15 runs in the first 100 balls he faced in his innings. This is the lowest for any batsmen in the World Test Championship during the team’s first innings.
