The Pakistan team hasn’t got off to the best of the starts in the Women’s World Cup 2017 both on and off the field as well. They have lost both the games they played and were found guilty for bowling with slow over-rate against England and also lost the services of their premier batswoman, Bismah Maroof for the rest of the tournament.

Pakistan suffered an enormous loss against the home team England at the Leicester after conceding a huge total of 377 after electing to bowl first. All-rounder Bismah Maroof got her little finger injured while fielding in the England innings which turned out to be a fracture. She couldn’t bowl while the England batswomen were going berserk against their bowlers and couldn’t bat at her usual position in the top order before the rain stopped the Pakistan innings at 29.2 overs.

The team will miss her

Unfortunately, Bismah Maroof, our pure batter, we were missing her (because of an injury sustained on the field). We were short of one batter,” said Pakistan team captain Sana Mir after their game against England.

According to SAMAA TV, Bismah will now be replaced by the Iram Javed in the Pakistan squad for the remained of the tournament. Iram has featured in 7 ODIs and 19 T20Is for Pakistan so far. The seam bowling all-rounder last appeared for Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 played in last December.

Bismah made her ODI debut in 2006, at the age of 15 and has scored 2082 runs in the 92 matches she has played so far; the only Pakistan Woman with 2000 ODI runs till date. She has been a handy bowler on many instances for her side with her leg-spin as she picked up 30 wickets in the 55 innings so far.
