With India continuing to maintain a clean slate against Pakistan in ODIs after their 95-run victory over the arch-rivals yesterday, they have now made it 10/10 wins against this opposition. The Indian team is in inspiring form as they continued their dominance in the tournament, remaining undefeated in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup. Because it was an India-Pakistan encounter, tickets at the Derby were sold out, even though the result could be predicted well in advance, credit to India’s momentum and Pakistan’s and run in the tournament.

However, at the halfway stage of the Indian innings, Pakistan were favourites written all over it because they did well to control the target dismissing the dangerous Smriti Mandhana as well as the ever consistent skipper Mithali Raj cheap. Among the Pakistan bowlers, Nashra Sandhu, in particular, shone for the green team with 4/26 as only Punam Raut managed to post 46. India bounced back as Deepti Sharma and Sushma Verma also showed some fight.

Team India bounced back towards the end as Deepti Sharma and Sushma Verma also showed some fight and took the total to 169/9 in 50 overs.

What followed was a dull batting performance as Indian left-arm spinner Ekta Bisht tore the Pakistani line-up apart with to record her first five-wicket haul in WWC finishing with figures of 5/18. As many as 8 Pakistan batters were dismissed for single digits, and 4 of them weren’t even allowed to open their accounts and returned with ducks.

There was some late fight back in the Pakistan innings as well with Nahid Khan and skipper Sana Mir putting in an effort of desperation but all they managed was to reduce the margin of the defeat. As they were eventually bundled out for 74 handing the Women in Blue a 95-run win. Team India has won all 3 matches played while Pakistan have lost all 3.

Twitter rose to applaud the Indian Women’s Team after their clinical performance:
