Shoaib Akhtar was one of the most lethal bowlers of his generation. He used to clock in excess of 150 kmph on a regular basis and ruffled a lot of feathers with his bouncers and yorkers. The Rawalpindi Express used to deliver thunderbolts and batters had a tough time while facing him. He last weaved his magic on the field during the 2011 edition of the World Cup.

Even eight years after he hung his boots, Shoaib hasn’t run out of steam completely. Of late, Ali Zafar, the popular Pakistan actor and singer, challenged him for a cricket match. The duo was locked in a war of words after which Zafar called him for some action on the field. To start with Zafar got under Akhtar’s skin, bowling a bouncer that missed the batsman by a whisker.

Zafar was mightily pleased with Shoaib swaying away from the line of the delivery. Ali Zafar captioned the video and wrote. “Was born ready. Ball touch kerne ki baat ki thee sir aapne. That may have been slightly over 172 mph. @shoaib100mph,”

Shoaib Akhtar isn’t a character, who would let off his opponent with ease. He churned out a yorker that rattled Zafar’s woodwork comprehensively. He captioned the video and wrote, “Ye wo yorker hai jis se baray baray burj ultay hain jani @AliZafarsays. My fans can tag all those ‘burj’ and tell you,”

Here is Akhtar’s reply

Even as he keeps on taking the field from time to time, Shoaib has become an active participant on social media platforms. He has his own YouTube Channel and keeps on sharing his opinions on cricketing developments around the globe. He also keeps on tweeting on a frequent basis. Recently, he criticised the Pakistan team after the defeat in Australia.

On the other hand, Ali Zafar has had a number of superhit songs to his name. Apart from Pakistan music, he has plied his trade in Bollywood as well. The 39-year-old has been seen in movies like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Dear Zindagi, Tere Bin Laden and many others. He can be seen frequently in the Coke Studio.
