Pakistani Cricket Board took a big step and removed Sarfaraz Ahmed from captaincy in T20I and Test cricket with immediate effect. This came after poor show by the team, as recently they were thrashed 3-0 at the hands of Sri Lanka, which was missing the majority of their big players. This decision set the tongues wagging speculating over reasons why he was sacked.
Also, reports stated that the veteran batsman didn’t go down without a fight and refused an offer from the board to step aside on his own accord and asked the PCB CEO Wasim Khan to sack him from the job, which was done. He was also dropped from the T20I side which will travel to Australia and has been asked to go back to domestic cricket to gain form and confidence.
But bigger than his sacking was what PCB did just after announcing this news to the world on Twitter. They unintentionally posted a dancing gif of Pakistani players, in which Sarfaraz is asked to leave the frame during a training session. This error couldn’t have come at a worse time for the board which has become famous for such goof ups from time to time.
Even former player Shoaib Akhtar found it disappointing that a national board of the cricket-crazy nation could make such silly errors and become a laughing stock of this level. He took to Twitter and lamented the fact that PCB didn’t know what should be done when and such mistakes were unpardonable.
“Ahhh. Only if PCB knew what to do when. Dancing Social media post was a big goof up, posting at the same time as announcement of change of captaincy. You can’t afford to do such blunders as the governing body of the most followed sport of the country, “Shoaib tweeted.

Meanwhile, head coach-chief selector Misbah-ul Haq has reportedly set his sights on Muhammad Rizwan, as he will be given an extended run behind the stumps keeping the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 in mind. Apart from this, Moin Khan claimed that both Misbah and bowling coach Waqar Younis disliked Sarfaraz Ahmed and conspired to remove him from captaincy and the team.
