England all-rounder Ben Stokes lost his father Ged on Tuesday who was battling with brain cancer. He was diagnosed with the illness back in January earlier this year and Ged was at his home with his wife at Christchurch in New Zealand at the time of his passing away. Unfortunately, Stokes wasn’t with the family during the tough time having returned from South Africa post the T20I series.

Understandably, he was gutted after losing his father, the man with whom, he was so close. And Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has come up with a heart-warming message sympathising with Ben Stokes for his personal loss. Babar told the England cricketer that he made his father proud and prayed for the well-being of his family and friends during this time.

Babar Azam took to Twitter to express himself and he also posted Ben Stokes’ picture in which the England all-rounder is dedicating his ton to his father with a brilliant gesture. “No words are enough @benstokes38. My heart & prayers goes out to you, your family and friends. You made your dad proud,” his tweet read.

Here’s his tweet:

Babar Azam is currently in New Zealand

As far as Babar Azam is concerned, he is currently in New Zealand for a three-match T20I and two-match Test series. This is the first tour for him as the full-time captain and will be keen on making an impact as a batsman and as a captain. He took over Azhar Ali as the Test skipper with not many results going their way during the latter’s tenure as a captain.

As for Ben Stokes, tributes poured in for his father after he passed away from the cricketing fraternity on social media. Even Stokes posted a heart-warming message for Ged. “In different places now me and you Ged but knowing you’ll always have this smile on your face make’s me smile every time I think of you. love you forever and always,” his message on Instagram read.
