Mumbai middle order batter Nitish Rana yesterday played a scintillating inning against a strong the Kings XI Punjab side. His team Mumbai Indians needed a huge 199 runs to emerge victorious and quite surprisingly they achieved the target in just 15.3 overs. The credit goes to England player Jos Buttler who slammed a 37 ball 77 and Nitish Rana who scored an equally brilliant 34 ball 62.

The youngster has been undoubtedly the find of the season so far with his breathtaking batting. He displayed a wonderful array of shots en route to his 34 ball 62 which was much appreciated by other cricketers and the fans. Another impressive fact about his mind-blowing innings was that it had 7 sixes in it.

As a result of his brilliant performances in the tenth season of the Indian Premier league the youngster went to the top in the race for the orange cap last night. The player now has 255 runs in his bag with 3 impressive fifties. Rana is closely followed by the skipper of the defending champions David Warner who has managed to score 239 runs so far in the tournament.

Not only that, but the left-hander now also has the most number of sixes hit in the season thus far. Big hitters like Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum, AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell and Kieron Pollard has been left behind by Nitish Rana as the world saw him move to the top of the list. He has hit 16 sixes in the season till date which is one better than former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum who has hit 15.

Nitish has also had a good domestic season for Delhi and is following it up with great performances in the Indian Premier League. If he continues to deliver with the bat like this he would break into the Indian team sooner rather than later.
